Strangeface mask workshop

character group“The mask lets so many of my normal defences down that my instincts just pour in”

Over the last couple of years I have been experimenting with using masks to explore our personalities, our inhibitions, patterns of power and status and to help unleash our natural creativity and spontaneity.  Having now worked with a few different teachers I have found it as exhilarating, insightful and slightly scary experience as when I first discovered improvisation many years ago.

With this in mind I’m delighted to be hosting a workshop with Strangeface Masks in London on Friday December 11th.

This workshop will include:

Basics of mask performance leading to a short performance at the end of the day, including:

  • Finding the mask
  • Developing the counter mask
  • Ways into physicality
  • Entrances and exits
  • The internal monologue
  • Tension states
  • Working with other masks on stage
  • Developing focus
  • Major and minor ways into devising
  • Voice and the mask

Attendees will be a mix of curious people and no previous mask experience is necessary.

Date/time: Friday December 11th 2015  10am-4pm
