Over the last couple of years I have been experimenting with using masks to explore our personalities, our inhibitions, patterns of power and status and to help unleash our natural creativity and spontaneity. Having now worked with a few different teachers I have found it as exhilarating, insightful and slightly scary experience as when I first discovered improvisation many years ago.
With this in mind I’m delighted to be hosting a workshop with Strangeface Masks in London on Friday December 11th.
This workshop will include:
Basics of mask performance leading to a short performance at the end of the day, including:
- Finding the mask
- Developing the counter mask
- Ways into physicality
- Entrances and exits
- The internal monologue
- Tension states
- Working with other masks on stage
- Developing focus
- Major and minor ways into devising
- Voice and the mask
Attendees will be a mix of curious people and no previous mask experience is necessary.
